Sentosa Travel Guide: Complete 1-Day Sentosa Island Itinerary with Madame Tussauds Review

Sentosa Island is one of the most visited places in Singapore. Sentosa is a top tourist destination for both local and international travelers, best explored on a day trip. For me, solo traveling is thrilling, but sometimes exploring a new destination with family and friends is heartwarming.

When my mother visited Singapore, I planned a short day trip that combined thrills, history, and picture-perfect memories. We explored Sentosa Island, which has Madame Tussauds, because my mom loves taking photos with wax figures of global celebrities and historical icons.

In this Sentosa travel guide, I’m sharing my honest experience from a real day trip to Sentosa with my family. It was a mix of sightseeing, photography, and emotional moments with my mother. If you are planning your first visit, this guide will help you understand exactly what to expect and how to plan your day better. How to get to Sentosa Island

Speaking of the Sentosa day trip, we started our day in Singapore city in the morning. We purchased a round-trip cable car ticket from TripAdvisor, which made our trip more valuable. The most popular way to reach Sentosa is via VivoCity, the island’s main gateway. There are many other options like taking the Cable Car, Sentosa Boardwalk, cycling via Sentosa Gateway, and driving- 30 minutes from Changi Airport.

From VivoCity, we hopped on the Sentosa Express monorail, which gave us stunning views of the waterfront as we approached the island. If you love walking, you can have a fantastic experience at the Sentosa Boardwalk, offering a scenic and breezy path into the heart of Sentosa.

The Sentosa Express monorail is the easiest option. From VivoCity, you can board the train and reach Sentosa in just a few minutes. The ride is smooth and offers a nice view of the waterfront. Another option is to walk along the Sentosa Boardwalk. This is perfect if you enjoy slow travel. The walking path is scenic, breezy, and completely free.

You can also take the Singapore Cable Car from Mount Faber or HarbourFront. This is more expensive, but the view from above is unforgettable, especially for first-time visitors. Within 15 minutes, we were already at Imbiah Station, ready to explore. You can purchase tours and attraction tickets on platforms like  ViatorGetYourGuide or Klook, which are very helpful.

Explore fully themed interactive zones—including the glamorous IIFA Awards Experience—where you can snap selfies with your favorite stars. First Stop: Madame Tussauds Singapore Experience

Our main highlight was Madame Tussauds Singapore, located at Imbiah Lookout. It is just a short walk from the Sentosa Express station. The entrance to this globally famous wax museum was lively, with posters of superstars and world leaders welcoming us in.

Madame Tussauds isn’t just a wax museum—it’s an interactive experience. Once inside, we were immediately immersed in different themed zones, each more fascinating than the last.

Ticket prices usually start at around S$,40, depending on package deals. It is best to book online in advance through platforms like GetYourGuide or TripAdvisor for discounts and easy cancellation options

Celebrity Moments, History, and Marvel 4D Fun

Inside Madame Tussauds, we explored different zones that felt very real and engaging. One of the most memorable moments for me was when my mother took a photo with Shah Rukh Khan’s wax figure. She was so happy and surprised at how realistic it looked. She couldn’t believe how realistic the statue looked—it felt like he was about to say “Namaste” any second!

The K-Wave zone is perfect for K-pop fans, while the sports section features global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Serena Williams.

History & Leaders: A Walk Through Time

There is also a History and Leaders zone where you can see figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, and Queen Elizabeth II. This part of the museum feels calmer and more meaningful than the entertainment zones. As a travel enthusiast, I loved seeing lifelike figures of Barack Obama, Queen Elizabeth II, and Nelson Mandela.

It was both educational and awe-inspiring. My mom admired Mahatma Gandhi’s wax figure and spent a few quiet moments in front of it—an emotional connection that many Southeast Asians share. This part of the museum is ideal for those interested in history and seeking more than just glamour and glitter—it also offers reflection and reverence.

Spirit of Singapore Boat Ride – A Unique Local Touch

Here is my favorite part: one of the most unexpected and delightful aspects of our visit was the “Spirit of Singapore” boat ride—an exclusive feature available only at Madame Tussauds Singapore. We boarded a small boat that took us through Singapore’s landmarks, lush jungles, and cultural festivities—all within a few minutes. Taking the boat ride is one of my favorite parts of visiting Madame Tussauds, as it allows us to see the view of Singapore’s identity and famous tourist spots. Don’t skip it, even if it’s too crowded.

Marvel Universe 4D Experience – Action-Packed Fun

If you love Singapore, don’t miss the Marvel 4D cinema. It’s more than an experience! We put on our 4D glasses and got pulled into a thrilling adventure featuring Iron Man and Captain America. The sections were incredible in our face, with vibration under our seats, and even a light splash of water!

Even my mom, who’s not usually a Marvel fan, said, “That was so real, I felt like Iron Man flew right past me!”

We also enjoyed the Marvel 4D Cinema, where action scenes come alive with motion seats, sound effects, and even water splashes. Even non-Marvel fans enjoy it because it feels so immersive.

Travel Tip:
I recommend going as early as possible to avoid crowds and get the best photos without long waits.

Lunch Break at Sentosa

After hours of walking and exploring, we stopped at Good Old Days Food Court near Siloso Beach. It is one of the most affordable places to eat in Sentosa.

The food options include local Singapore dishes and international meals. There are also Halal-friendly choices, which are helpful for many travelers. If you want to purchase a Good Old Days buffet ticket, you can buy it on GetYourGuide, TripAdvisor, Viator, and there are combo tickets including the Wings of Time show + Good Old day buffet dinner, which is the best deal for tourists.
